a nice facade meals nothing
the hotel location is good, rooms are barely acceptable, flimsy: floors and rooms are not clean, stinky, ads everywhere, even on the bathroom's door! and the reception looks as a two-stars hotel one |

"Couldn't ask for better..."
If you looked up exceptional customer service in the dictionary, I am fairly sure you'd find the Hotell Bondenheimen. I was astounded by the level of service, especially for the reasonable price we paid for the room. The location could not be more convenient, the rooms were small, but extremely comfortable, cozy and clean, the breakfast was fantastic, and best of all, the service was outstanding. The answer to every question or request was always "yes." The hotel offers free internet, use of baggage room and a bottomless breakfast with traditional Norweigen, as well as western, choices. We loved it and would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Oslo.

"Great value downtown"
Stayed at this hotel for three nights in January after booking it on Expedia. I chose a small room with a twin bed. It totally reminded me of a cabin on a cruise ship. However, the room was laidout nicely, wa very clean, and had plenty of room for storage and an in-room safe. The bed and linens were quite comfortable and nice. There was also a TV, with a couple of English language stations. The bathroom was definitely compact. The hot water took about 5-7 min to kick in.
I couldn't figure out how to turn up the heat in the room, leading me to think it was controlled by the hotel. I was a bit chilly at nights and would have liked to turn up the heat. That aside I was very happy with the hotel, the service, the free breakfast, etc. There is also a free internet computer in the lobby.
The front desk staff was very nice. The desk clerk did give me incorrect information on the bus ride to the airport (which conveniently picks up right smack in front of the hotel). He told me that the ride only took 15 minutes. Not true. It took just over 45 minutes and I barely caught my flight out. Anyway, I recommend taking the bus to/from the airport if you plan to stay at this hotel. From the airport disembark at the Hotel Bristol stop and you are right there. The cost is about 120 krone one-way.
The hotel is situated right smack in the heart of downtown, a short walk to all the major attractions and many restaurants. The subway is just a block or two away.

"Pleasant Hotel"
Very convenient location if taking the airport bus. Bus stops right outside the door every 20 minutes and even takes credit cards! It is a bit of a hike from the train station, but not unmanageable. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even helping me track down an item that I had left/lost at the train station. The free breakfast buffet is served in the restaurant right next door (an interior doorway is available for hotel access). The buffet is large and varied, making it suitable for any breakfast taste. Also, a 20% discount for lunch and/or dinner is available to hotel guests in the restaurant. This comes in very handy considering the high prices of restaurant food in Norway. Also, a delightful snack/late dinner of soup and bread, along with tea or coffee is available free of charge each evening in the lobby. Our room was small, but serviceable and very clean. I loved the heated flooring in the bathroom - what a wonder! I couldn't be more pleased with our stay and highly recommend the Bondeheimen.
